

Some amount of anxiety and stress are just part of experiencing life. Whether it is your first day at a new job, moving to a new location, your car breaks down in heavy traffic, or harder yet - a loved one is critically ill, the stress and anxiety may become too much making it difficult for you to move forward.
Since learning about homeopathy, I have been able to deal with many stressful situation with more clarity of thought and with shorter periods of anxiety.
Four years ago, when my mother passed away, I had just started learning about homeopathy. My first thought was to take Aconitum napellus 200 for the initial shock of the news. I followed that up with Ignatia 200 and was surprised that I only needed a couple of doses to feel calmer and able to deal with the events that followed.
Ignatia amara (made from the St. Ignatius Bean) is known to help with grief, a sense of isolation, constantly being frustrated, or even
hysteria. Besides feeling sad or frustrated a person's symptoms may include one or more of the following conditions: headaches, insomnia or excessive sleeping, or possibly even a feeling of a lump in the throat.
Ignatia 200 twice a day can be very effective for shorter incidences of grief, anxiety, or stress. Ignatia is a good remedy to start with. However, when the grief, hysteria, or over sensitivity to criticism or loss is longer lasting, you might consider stopping Ignatia and move on to Natrum muriaticum 30 twice a day until you are very much better.
Another option would be to consider Aurem metalicuam 200 depending of course on if the symptoms fit the remedy.
Aurum metalicum 200 is often used when there are feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness. The person needing Aurum met may have profound sadness, feel tired of life and/or feel discontented all the time. This remedy can be taken once every other day or once every 3rd day depending on the severity of the symptoms and is recommended for individuals over the age of 12.
Many people find it useful to add Coffea cruda 200 twice a day when taking Aurum met. Coffea is especially helpful when stress is causing insomnia.
Do you or a family member ever experience extreme performance anxiety? Gelsemium sempervirens 6 or 30 twice a day is a very useful remedy for anxiousness that comes with a presentation such as being in front of coworkers or even for your overly anxious child that has a music or dance recital.
Consider Gelsemium for any important event that is causing extreme angst. You may find that only one or two doses is necessary to lessen your anxiety enough to navigate the upcoming event.
Joette Calabrese (the founder and director of the Academy of Practical Homeopathy® and Mastery?) often refers to Gelsemium as the D medicine because the person needing the remedy may feel droopy, dragging, experience diplopia, feel dopy, have dullness or dread, be distressed, depressed, dizzy, depleted and possibly drowsy.
